Rachael Muir - Style Assignment

Steven Meisel’s work focuses on fashion photography. He states that as he sets up his photoshoots, he mainly guides the attention towards the clothing first and foremost. Born on June 5th, 1954, much of Meisel’s career was dedicated to photographing editorial images for Vogue magazine. The portraits that he creates all portray a similar dynamic. Meisel utilizes a digital camera to capture his images in a crisp and professional manner. Some of his photographs are depicted in black and white, as well to illustrate elegance. However, one photoshoot that stands out to me is his project called "Undone" with model Claudia Schiffer. Typically, her hair, makeup, and clothing are quite put together as she did many cover shoots for magazines. Steven Meisel decided to photograph her as her natural self. She had no makeup on, messy morning hair, and comfortable clothes. I used this unique approach to photographing people as my inspiration.
